  • Howdy, Folks!

    I'm so glad you're here!

Smile! I want to take your picture! I want to give you the gift of remembrance, and I want it to sparkle like a jewel in your hand. I want to capture you just the way you are so that when your children, your parents, and your best friends look back, they will see how precious you've always been and just how amazing you've become. Look at these images, close your eyes and remember love. And when you take that second look, soak it up...

Without further ado, I invite you to put your comfy pants on, sit back, and explore this site to get a taste of what it's like to spend a wild afternoon with me, romping around or lounging around - whatever suits you best! Send me a note if you have any questions, comments, or good jokes to share!

Happy Trails to You... Until We Meet Again,

Thinking ‘Bout Somethin’

This might be old news to some of you, but I am compelled to share the love on this one. Yet another reason to love these guys. Let me know if you’d like me to tell you the 9 million other reasons you should buy all the records and go to all their concerts. :)

Melissa + Mike

Melissa + Mike are the kind of clients photographers dream of. Always cheery, always kind, and their default response to my asking whether they felt comfortable doing something was, “Whatever you think – you’re the photographer.” Seriously, I could kiss my computer screen just typing those words…

Sigh… now that I’m feeling all dreamy, let me sing the praises of my fantastic clients yet again – you see, I’m a dummy and suggested we meet at a park for our session. I pulled up to the place about 20 minutes before our scheduled meeting time just because that’s how far in advance I have to arrive to make sure I’m not late. You see, I’m one of those people who thinks 20 minutes late is “on time”, so I have to over-correct when it comes time to meet up with clients… Anywho, I TRY to pull into the park, but it’s straight up CLOSED. Like, you can’t even pull your car the parking lot closed. So, I called Melissa + Mike in a mild state of panic and they graciously agreed to meet me at a wild-card location that neither of us had ever been to. Thank tiny little baby Jesus laying in a manger that my beloved iPhone has a google maps app. I could kiss that thing. The three of us hopped around a little city park and avoided getting too muddy and managed to capture a little happiness and love, don’t you think?

Eden Scharer - I know Breena Holt and came across your website while looking thorugh her pictures on facebook and I LOVE all of these pictures! This is what I want to do when I’m older and I’m looking at buying an SLR camera and was wondering what kind you used?

Kelly - Hey Eden! Thanks so much for your friendly words! Being a photographer is a lot of work, but it’s also super fun! I use a Canon 5D, which is pretty expensive, but Canon also makes a 50D which is a great choice if you’re just starting out. I’d suggest buying the 50mm f/1.8 and the 35mm f/2.0! Let me know if there’s anything I can help you with as you start your journey. ;)

Melissa - As a participant in this session I will tell you that even during the shoot I knew our pics were going to turn out great :) Kelly – you are amazing to work with! Thanks for making it so easy and fun! Gail – yes he does have gorgeous eyelashes! Here’s hoping our kids take after him in that regard!

Darby Jane

I have never, ever seen a newborn with this much personality! Maybe it’s because I have also never ever seen a newborn who was so loved and so desired even before she was born. I’ve been friends with Darby’s mom, Sara, since I was just a wee thing, and I feel so blessed to be able to say that. Sara’s literally the kindest person I’ve ever known – no exaggeration there – and I’m absolutely positive not a day will go by that Darby will have to wonder whether she’s adored – her selfless mother, her loyal and dedicated father, her doting grandparents and rambunctious aunt and uncle will make sure of that!

Seriously, I am overcome by cuteness. If you’re an “awwwww”er, be careful if you’re looking at this at work. You’ll be gooing and gaahing over this baby in no time and then your boss will be all like “wow, you must really love your work” and then you’ll have to try to close your browser window as he walks over, but it’ll freeze and then he’ll see it and you’ll get fired and let’s not start off little Darby’s life with that kind of responsibility, okay? Okay.

Sara - Kelly, I’ve known you since we were little kids and I always knew you would do something amazing with your talent. Even as kids, you always had such an eye for art and beauty and I knew you would find some brilliant outlet for your creativity. In this age, everyone with a digital camera thinks they no longer need to use professional photographers, but these photos prove them wrong! You are truly talented and we will forever cherish these photos as a reminder of the first precious weeks with our daughter. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
