That’s easy. I’m Kelly Heasley. I am a photographer and a philosopher, a builder and an architect. I think everything is beautiful. I’m an Ohioan, born and raised, much to the disdain of my West Virginian husband, Garth (who is not my cousin). Go Bucks. I’m 27. I love music. I love to make music. I love Jesus, and I still sleep with the bear my dad gave me when I was 5.
I’m not a gear-head. I know how to work a camera, don’t get me wrong, but you’re not going to hear about it on this blog. Nope. You’re going to hear stories of the beauty that’s all around us everyday if we have the eyes to see it.
I’m decisive and even-keeled, but I’m not a planner. I won’t come to your session with every shot mapped out. I’ll probably roll in, give you a bear-hug and then say “Let’s see where the wind takes us!”
More than anything I want you to be you. Don’t worry about looking like a supermodel. Don’t try to get those kids to put on their Sunday best and stay out of the mud. You’re all FANTASTIC the way you are, and one of my very-most favorite things is helping you see and embrace all that fantasmicism. I also love making up words. Don’t judge. My sister understands them.
At every portrait session I photograph, I want to capture more than just how you look. My goal is to tell a story… the story of your life. Who you are today, right now, in this moment. Silly three year olds are allowed (and encouraged) to be silly. Moody teenagers are never asked to say cheese. Don’t want to pose in front of the fireplace? Good because I wasn’t planning on asking you to. Relax. Be yourselves.
And most of all, HAVE FUN!
