Super Stud!

Little tiny baby Jack is such a grown-up now. At 17 months, this kid’s got more attitude than will fit in his little Gap jeans.

Here’s a sneak preview of his adorable (but not certainly not cutesy) portraits. Watch out ladies, this one’s a charmer. And he’s ALL BOY.

The Navin Family

Meet the Navins.

If there’s one thing this family has a lot of, it’s personality! If there’s another thing they’ve got plenty of, it’s love. And there’s laughing… lots of laughing. We got together on a chilly day in November, so we spent most of our afternoon in their lovely home (Shannon has amazing taste -look out for her gorgeous orange and white bedspread)! We did get to pop outside for a bit to grab some images of everyone hanging out in the backyard. In this photo, everyone’s holding hands and coming toward the camera so they can stampede me and get back inside where it’s warm! “Red rover, red rover, run the photographer over!”

From left to right, we have

Shannon: warm, friendly, and oh so hip

Emerson: independent, determined and just plain hilarious

Christoper: sweet, mischievous, and sharp

Eric: smart, responsible, but with a little wild streak (just ask him about his motorcycle!)

Spencer: happy, well-loved, and full of energy!

Don’t forget- to see each and every image from their session, check out the Navin family slideshow!

We were super lucky to have grandma hanging out with us during this session. She always succeeded in getting Spencer to smile, even when he was fighting off frostbite in the backyard! She was also kind enough to look after the boys for awhile so that Shannon and Eric could take some time to get their picture taken, no kids allowed! ;) Don’t they look amazing?

Last, but definitely not least, I’m pleased to present the debut of an up-and-coming photographer, Emerson! He snapped these shots of Eric and Shannon and provided some ingenious modeling direction for them. He really had them working the camera, don’t you think? Snaps for Emerson!

Romance, surely.

So maybe my best friend Garth doesn’t buy me roses. That’s alright with me. Instead, he brings home instruments of great beauty. As we speak, he’s sitting at the kitchen table, sanding corrosion off the tines of this baby, and I’m pretty sure the dust is settling in the apple brown betty bread pudding I just pulled out of the oven.

It’s okay, though, because, for a very long time, it has been my wish to have a Fender Rhodes of my very own. They’re pretty expensive, and so Garth bought one that needs a lot of work, and he’s going to fix it up so I can play tunes on it. This is what love is all about, my friends.

Husband, you are the best one of the best ones.

Monica + Abner

Meet Monica + Abner.

Adorable, right? Just plain, gorgeous, right? Friendly and sweet and genuine, right? Monica and Abner really are all of these things and more. I’ve known Monica since college, and I have to tell you that she’s just as clever as she is photogenic. Monica has a degree in philosophy (just like me!) and apparently all those deep thoughts gave her great wisdom in choosing a future husband.

Even though they’re a perfect match, Monica and Abner have their differences. For example, Monica appreciates a good pop song, but Abner won’t speak a word to anyone with a Backstreet Boys CD in their collection. The only person he’ll make an exception for is Miss Monica. Now THAT’S love.

We met on a FREEZING cold day at Hoover Reservoir in Westerville. Monica and Abner (native Hondurans) fought the cold like champions! After all, it couldn’t have been too bad with all the cuddling they were doing.
