Update on Josh Gulvas

Just received word that Josh has gone to be with the Lord. His body was recovered. Please don’t stop praying, though. I don’t know why God chose to take Josh, and I don’t know what to say to those who feel like God isn’t good right now. All I can think to do is keep asking for mercy on his family, friends, and everyone who ever met him. His is already so sorely missed. He was a bright light in a dark world. Thankfully, I can still see that light, even from Heaven.

A Request

This blog is for everyone, and all are always welcome here, but I do have a special request for those visitors who feel comfortable going before God in prayer when situations seem wildy out of control.

The Gulvas family are old friends of mine. They’re kind, humble, and most of all, steadfast in their faith, even in the most tragic circumstances. Tuesday, the unthinkable happened. While hiking in the Colorado wilderness, 21-year-old Josh Gulvas hiked a parallel trail to his dad, Rand, but never arrived at their rendezvous location. A massive search has been going on for two days now, and the rescue team has been narrowing down Josh’s location, but as far as we know, haven’t been able to find him. Read this article for more information:

Please pray for Josh’s safe return and for those who are eagerly awaiting him. He is well-loved, so there are many, many people who are missing him dearly right now.

Stopping Time

On the front end of July, my BFF Garth and I picked up Aasta, John, and Sarah (who flew in from NYC) in DC and headed down to Williamsburg, VA for the Heasley family reunion!

Being a Heasley-family transplant, and I met of lot of my new family for the first time during those few days, and it still amazes me how fast a person can grow to love people they’ve just met. Here are a few photos from our time together.

If you’re were at the reunion and are interested in downloading all of my photos from the event, click here to start the download.

P.S. Aasta + John, don’t be mad at me for posting your “prom pictures” on the internet. You guys are so cute, how could I really resist?

Everything

Yeah, I’m that girl. The one who writes weird things like “I love Jesus” on her business blog and posts videos like the one below that moved me to tears. Keep watching all the way through to the end. Just trust me on this one.

I’m a logical person – to a fault, even. So, when people ask me to tell them why I believe that Jesus came to do what we never could, I want desperately to give them some kind of concrete answer. But I can’t because that’s not what compelled me toward Him in the first place, and that’s not what keeps me hanging onto Him day after day. What keeps me here, in a place of seemingly pathetic reliance on the triune God is the fact that I’ve tried it on my own, and I just got sick of my own voice. So I tried listening to the silence, and I discovered it wasn’t silence at all – just the quiet calling of a Savior who’d been there the whole time, pulling me ever closer.
