Jessica + Joe = Ellie

Meet Jessica, Joe + Ellie!

21

Jess is one of my favorite people. Hands down, straight up. She’s a woman who knows what she wants and one who doesn’t apologize for who she is. And one of my favorite things about her is also the most mysterious to me. She’s a woman who was born to be a mother. If you know me at all, you can see why this would be so curious to me. I still need supervision when handling a baby. Not, Jess, though. She’s the kind of lady who sees babies as miracles.

I see miracles, too. Miracles named Joe who kinda pop up out of nowhere and perfectly fill an impossible void. So wonderfully different, yet so precisely perfect for Jess. I can’t help but think how beautiful this “Ellie” is destined to be.

Leah + Andrew = Landon

Meet Leah, Andrew + Landon!

21

Leah and Andrew are different. Not in a creepy, only-a-mother-could-love-’em sort of way, though. They have an amazing story of risk, adventure, and love. Andrew is from South Africa (a relative stone’s throw from where my sister lived!) and met the beautiful, clever, and not-afraid-of-anything Leah while they were both living in England. Why England? Why not? That’s just the kind of people they are – the kind who do amazing things without even knowing just how out of the ordinary their bravery and zest for life really is!

Their next adventure is imminent, and it has a name… Landon! Such an adorable baby boy (just look at his 3-D ultrasound in the gallery) has never had a more anticipated welcome into the world! Ready but not ready at the same time, nothing could stop Leah and Andrew from enjoying every moment of the days they have left of this adventure before they plunge headfirst into the next. And, like usual, they’re going to do it in style… I mean, how could they not? They’re are, after all, really really ridiculously good looking, eh?

The Bartley Family

Meet the Bartleys!

01

Don’t get all excited, ye so numerous blog readers; I’m not going to start working on holidays. The Bartleys are long-time friends, and so when their amazingly talented, diverse and adventurous family finally all ended up in the same city on Thanksgiving Day, I HAD to run over before my turkey dinner to snap a few photos. Unless your family consists of writers, pastors, musicians, professors, philosophers, philanthropists, and all-around amazing human beings, you’ll be hard pressed to pull me away from my mom’s pumpkin pie!

Jen + Tony

Meet Jen + Tony.

So, Jen + Tony make a beautiful couple, don’t they? Just when you think they couldn’t possibly get any cuter, they go and add Coby to the mix…

Jen + Tony are usually laughing. Usually smiling. Usually saying something nice about somebody else. They’re usually cheering on their favorite team or praising God through song and dance.

When Jen facebooked me to inquire about booking a “maternity” session ASAP, I was absolutely thrilled to meet up with her and her husband Tony just two days later. You see, Jen only has a few weeks left until she brings baby boy Coby into the world. And what a joyful welcome he’ll receive! I knew we wouldn’t be doing a traditional maternity session with chiffon and soft focus, so I went out on a limb and suggested that, after spending some time at Jen + Tony’s beautiful home, we venture out to a local high school to capture some sports-inspired images. Imagine how thrilled I was when Tony’s eyes lit up and he busted out a little football to incorporate into the session. We didn’t end up having conventional maternity portraits, but I’d say these are even better!
